For this particular client, she had renovated every space in her home but had the master bathroom and bedroom left to update. You can read all about the master bedroom renovation here that I helped her design.
She didn’t love her master bedroom. It felt dark and outdated with large dark stained wooden furniture and outdated trim. Her closet was not functional and completely crammed with clothes. She couldn’t wait to lighten it up, put in new vinyl plank flooring and get all new bedroom furniture. Every square inch of this space needed to be touched and I couldn’t wait to help her save money in the process.
The whole goal of this client was to create an affordable bedroom and a cohesive design on a budget. She hired me to do this and I was so excited to research and shop for her!
One of the best ways to make a space feel bigger is to paint the walls a lighter color. We basically took the gray color from the rest of her home and went a few shades lighter on the paint deck. She picked a vinyl plank floor that matched the rest of her home.
To add character, my husband Mitch installed a shiplap panel on the bottom of the half wall. You can find the shiplap panel at Home Depot here. She painted it bright white to match the shaker style trim she has throughout her home. This truly became an accent wall instead of an eyesore because we incorporated it into the design.
We kept with the same theme of brightening up the room with bright white linens, layering 3 European shams and a lumbar pillow with a chunky knit throw on the end. This is clean, beautiful and bright on an upholstered bed frame that we found on Wayfair for a steal of a deal linked here.
To anchor the bed, I found this beautiful Katherine area rug by Jean Stoffer for only $180 that pulls all of these colors perfectly together. You can find the rug linked here.
For the furniture, I chose midcentury style furniture as this particular client likes clean and simple lines. To balance out the white bedding, I found warm wood tones for the nightstands and the dresser. These nightstands come in a set of 2 at Target and only cost $284 for the set. You can find the nightstands here.
Staying within the mid century vibe, I found the lamps at Target for only $30 linked here! The gold lamp bases pull in some of the gold flecks in the rug and it looks just perfect. This client does not like clutter so I went very simple in terms of home decor. I found this piece of framed art at Hobby Lobby 50% off so it was under $15! We then put a print that means a lot to her in a simple black frame.
With an updated closet, she has a lot more storage in her closet. So, she decided to get rid of the dark hutch and bought a mid century style dresser online linked here. I found a few home accents at Walmart which include this vase and the black planter.
My client loves her new master bedroom! We checked all the design boxes and she came in way under budget! You can shop this entire space in my LikeToKnow Shop here.
